Health and wellness
The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) offers a range of services, resources and programs to support and promote student well-being.
Campus Health Centre
The Campus Health Centre offers a variety of confidential and comprehensive services, including:
- massage therapy
- physical therapy
- walk-in medical clinic
Your student is able to book an appointment at the Campus Health Centre by phone, or by visiting the centre during operating hours.

Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre
Outside the classroom experiences are an important part of the student experience, and can provide opportunities for your student to:
- Meet other students.
- Develop their skills both athletically and interpersonally.
- Relieve stress.
Membership fees are paid as part of your student’s ancillary fees.
The Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre (CRWC) offers:
- fitness classes*
- indoor running track
- FLEX fitness centre
- squash courts
- personal training sessions*
Encourage your student to get involved!
The Student Association (SA) facilitates intramural and extramural sports through their Campus Rec service.

UOIT provides comprehensive disability supports and accommodations for students with documented disabilities. For students enrolled at the north Oshawa campus location, these supports and services are offered through the Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD). For students enrolled at the downtown Oshawa campus location, these supports and services are offered through the Student Life Centre – Disability Services.
Accommodation supports include, but are not limited to:
- adaptive technology training
- alternative format course material
- learning skills support
- testing support
- transition support for incoming students
Students are encouraged to register as early as possible with the appropriate office to be eligible to benefit from the transition programs offered before classes start for both students and parents.
Student health insurance plan
Part of your student's ancillary fees go toward the student health insurance plan. The plan provides varying levels of coverage for health, dental and vision care.
Information about available coverage or the process for opting out of the plan for those already covered can be found at the Student Insurance Plan page on the Student Association web
Students who opt out of the student health insurance plan are still able to make use of all of the services and supports provided by UOIT.
