Test Centre Rules and Guidelines


  • Plan to arrive a few minutes early.
  • For tests and midterms, you must remain in the Test Centre for 30 minutes after your class start time.
  • For final exams, you must remain in the Test Centre for one hour after your class start time.
  • If you arrive past the designated grace period, you may not be permitted to write your test or exam.
  • Turn off cell phones, smart watches and electronic devices and place them in your bag.
  • Gather all of the items that will you need during the test before entering the Test Centre.
  • Bags and coats must be hung up or placed at the front of the room.
  • Remove hats and hoods.
  • Only allowable aids should be on your desk (e.g. calculator, pen or pencil).
  • Only drinks are allowed. No food is permitted unless it is an approved accommodation.
  • Students are required to sign in and sign out each time that they use the Test Centre. 
  • Separate rooms are only for students who require it as part of their accommodation.
  • We strive to provide a quiet environment. Student conversation is not permitted.


All UOIT policies and procedures, including Academic Misconduct, apply in the Test Centre. If Test Centre staff finds any evidence of poor decision-making, materials will be confiscated and submitted to your faculty. Your faculty will determine the appropriate course of action.

If you require a change to the start or end time of your test or exam due to your accommodations, please register for the class time and duration and then email with your request.

If you are unable to write a test or exam that you have scheduled with the Test Centre, please:

  1. Contact your professor immediately. They will determine whether you will be permitted to write the test or exam on an alternative day.
  2. Email and let them know that you will be absent.
